400 South/500 South Pipeline Project

This project is installing a new sewer line along 400 South. This new line will connect the existing line at 1000 W. to a new pump station being built near Orange Street. With Salt Lake City's population growing and the West Side business community thriving, this project will add capacity to meet these growing needs. The project will provide greater flexibility in the operation of the West Side Collection System when unusual flow conditions occur. The project will also provide SLC staff with an increased ability to address odor issues in the current system by providing new odor management tools.

Salt Lake City recognizes that 400 South is a vital roadway that provides access to businesses, community services, churches, schools, and open space, like the Jordan River Parkway Trail. While the improvements are constructed, community members can expect to see some narrowed lanes and some associated traffic delay. Please plan for some extra time when passing through the area and check the website for updates and information. Additionally, the project-dedicated public engagement team is available to address any questions at 801-721-1438 or SLCwaterprojects@slcgov.com.

ON-STREET PARKING

Residents are asked to avoid parking vehicles within the road right-of-way while construction is occurring on their street. This will protect personal property, minimize impact to neighborhoods, and expedite work.

SIDEWALKS

While sidewalks will remain open and accessible during the majority of construction, pedestrians should always use caution when walking near active construction and trenches.

SAFETY

Safety is a top priority for SLC Public Utilities. We encourage and appreciate neighborhood participation to keep children away from the construction equipment and work areas. Parents, please talk with your children about staying away from potentially dangerous construction and watching for construction vehicles.
If you see any vandalism or trespassing in construction areas, please call the Salt Lake City Dispatch:
(801) 483-6700 to report the incident.
