Construction Underway on Gladiola Street

Construction Underway on Gladiola Street

Spring has sprung and construction is underway along Gladiola Street with excavation happening at 500 S. and at California Avenue.

Crews are working to install isolation valves as part of the overall sewer rehabilitation along Gladiola St. as part of Salt Lake City’s WaterRenew program. Isolation valves are true to their name in that they isolate the sewer line so that service can be maintained throughout construction and turn off water flow as needed.

Once valves are in place, multiple crews will begin repairs to the sewer system which will involve trenching along the East side of Gladiola Street to allow a slipline (smaller pipe) to be inserted into the existing sewer line. This work is anticipated to last through August 2017.

This project is part of an overall effort to upgrade and improve the sewer, water and storm drain systems. This improved infrastructure will support and foster economic development throughout Salt Lake City.

Excavation is the first phase of this project along Gladiola Street from 500 S. to California Ave.
